Nurtured Through Labour
A Hands-On Comfort Measures Workshop for Labour & Birth
Why Comfort Measures Matter
For many people, especially during a first pregnancy, fear, stress, and uncertainty around labour sensations can feel overwhelming. Even in second or third (or more) pregnancies, anxiety about how labour will unfold is common.
Learning comfort measures ahead of time can help reduce fear, ease anxiety, and support active labour. When the body feels supported and safe, labour often unfolds more smoothly.
This hands-on workshop is about replacing fear with understanding and giving you practical tools you can actually use. You’ll leave feeling more confident, supported, and empowered as you prepare to give birth to your baby.

Who It's For
This workshop is for any growing family.
Whether this is your first baby or you’ve given birth before, whether you’re planning a home birth or hospital birth, this workshop is designed to support you through labour.
Partners are encouraged to attend, as they’ll learn hands-on ways to actively support the birthing person and feel confident in their role.

What You'll Learn
During this workshop, you’ll learn and practice a variety of hands-on techniques, including:
-
Movement and positioning
-
Counter-pressure and supportive touch
-
Breathwork and focus techniques
-
Comfort tools such as birth balls, peanut balls, and rebozos
-
How to build your own comfort “toolbox” based on what feels right for you
We’ll also talk through what comfort tools are typically available in hospital settings and what you may want to bring with you.
Partners will learn exactly how to offer hands-on support so they can feel confident about the support they offer during labour and birth.
Investment: $75+HST per couple

About Your Facilitator

Hi, I’m Jess — a holistic health practitioner, doula, and mom of two.
During my first pregnancy, I quickly realized how limited birth education and support were in our community. I had to seek out information on my own, and that journey changed my life. I went from feeling completely scared of birth to feeling excited, empowered, and confident to birth my baby.
That experience sparked a deep passion for birth work. Today, my work is rooted in helping others feel informed, supported, and ready, even for births that are long, challenging, or unpredictable. Birth can be hard, but it can also be empowering, meaningful, and transformative.
My workshops are designed to be interactive, supportive, and empowering. Many people learn best by doing, and this space is created for exactly that.
My goal is for you to leave feeling confident, capable, and prepared, not overwhelmed. This is a holistic approach that honours both the physical and emotional experience of labour.
